LensCulture Portrait Awards 2020

About last night. Another sleepless night. The peace and quiet of the dark nights is the moment for me to create and think. Think a lot. To stop this a little I usually crawl behind the computer. Sometimes just to make some space and delete files, because tidying up gives peace of mind.

And suddenly I end up with images that need some attention. I look at them, cut, paste, add and delete, until the image I feel becomes visible. Sometimes it takes months before I’m happy with the result and sometimes just some hours.

Last night was such a night and in a moment of ‘insanity’ I decided to put some of my recent work on the website of Lensculture, one of the most comprehensive and far-reaching resources for discovering contemporary photography talent around the world. What was I thinking when I read the call for entries and submitted the work?

In the morning when I woke up, that was what I thought, but oke, it was done and the day went on. In the early evening, when opening my mail I was happily surprised with the following:

Congratulations!

One of the photos you entered has been selected by our editors to be featured in the Portrait Awards 2020 Competition Gallery,

visible to everyone who visits the website. The Competition Gallery is a highly curated group of images selected by our editors to showcase only the best photos from entrants, so this is great news.

Thank you Lensculture for this!

Love,
